Religious and secular party:
The religious parties included such as convention Muslim
League Qayyum Muslim League Pakistan Muslim League Pakistan Democratic Party
Jamiat-ul-Ulema-a-Islam Jamiat-ul-Ulema-a-Pakistan and Jamiat-a-Islam Party amongst
several others. These religious parties called for the Islamization of the country.
But although having general approach they were entirely different from one
another and that is why could not join on a single platform. The government of
Yahya Khan was behind the religious parties for their traditional attitude that
was in requiring of a strong central government.
The secular and mainly high-flying
political parties were two among many others. They both were regional Pakistan
People’s Party of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Awami League of Sheikh
Mujib-ur-Rehman. Their prime focal point was on economic issues. They both got huge
public support as compared to all other parties. Their followers belonged to
all the sections of the society. Therefore these two twisted into mass
movements. Both parties allocated their leading positions and popularity in the
huge political competition to their leaders. Both Bhutto and Mujib were talented
leaders and overcome extraordinary appeals in their personalities for people of
all ages and professions.
